The Problem
There is no Mount Mattrressmore in The Great Dividing Range where mattresses are stacked to reach the height of Mount Kosciuszko. Our End-of-Life (EOL) are a growing problem not only in Australia but globally. Mattresses do need to go somewhere at the end of their product life though, we want to help solve the problem of where they go! Keeping in mind that landfill should be our very last resort.
Yet, there could almost be such a mountain, from the number of mattresses we discard of in Australia alone. We could fill Marvel Stadium in Melbourne to the roof with the number of mattresses we cast off to landfill each year.

Our sustainable mattress removal service provides an environmentally friendly solution for disposing your old mattress. Our aim is to minimise the environmental impact of Australia’s mattress waste.
Avoid adding to growing landfill
Landfill is growing each year, and mattresses are a very large contributor. We want to help minimise how many mattresses end up at the tip, taking up valuable space in landfills.
Evolving our recycling initiatives & repurposing initiatives
Our focus is on ecofriendly disposal, recycling initiatives, customer education around why we are needed and a transparent process with the Australian people.
Our process
We evaluate the condition of the mattress, it will either be recycled or renewed!
- We evaluate a mattress or bed base to be ‘UNSAVEABLE!
Unsavable mattresses will be manually deconstructed into separate materials, steel, foam, fabric & timber.
- Single source materials can then be recycled properly.
- Materials saved become resources that we can also reuse and repurpose.
- Single source recycling reduces pollutants in the environment & reduces landfill.
- We evaluate a mattress or bed base to be ‘SAVEABLE’
- Any mattress deemed too good, to be deconstructed, we will do some work to extend the life of this mattress or bed base.
- Saveable mattresses enter our Comprehensive Onsite Mattress Refurbishment Plant to be:
– Steam Cleaned
– Sanitised
– Deodorised
– Re-bagged - These saved mattresses are made available to The Mattress Project, helping disadvantaged groups get a good night’s sleep on a clean and healthy mattress.
- Tonnes of landfill reduced.
- Materials within discarded mattresses are saved to be reused, recycled, or repurposed.
- Landfill entirely avoided.
- Those in need, have access to a clean and healthy mattress to sleep on.
